Some mock the Harry Potter house system as mere social stratification. However, society is divided into these broad categories. Gryffindors can be compared to those who take risks often found in challenging fields such as business, law, medicine, and even athletics. Slytherins are completely ambitious and represent the less than 5 percent of modern “blue bloods” that control the the top of the socioeconomic ladder with political prestige. Hufflepuffs enjoy a degree of flexibility in that their skills and attributes are beneficial in most fields. They may gravitate toward the service sector for their uncanny loyalty, hard-working demeanor, and stark candor.
Finally, the best house not only because it was the one I was sorted into but also because of its grouping of such talented minds. All of the above fields would not be completely possible without creative minds that are willing to defy social norms to accomplish something that has never been achieved. Ravenclaws are innovators, unafraid to lend themselves completely to projects that may or may not change people’s perspective on their position in the world. As a result, Ravenclaws are adaptable to any situation and learn to strive for the best by thinking, creating, exploring, and understanding.
